Pihua Lin first started teaching Chinese at UBC as a visiting lecturer in 2016, and she is now a lecturer as of 2018. Before teaching Chinese at UBC, she received a M.A. Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University. Then, she became a full-time Mandarin instructor in 2010 at Miami University in Ohio, USA.

Pihua believes that by providing the students with a warm and supportive language learning community, they will be more inspired to step out of their comfort zones, and cultivate their inter-cultural awareness. She also hopes to inspire her students to become lifelong language learners by scaffolding each step of her teaching process to help the students build a strong work ethic, achieve their learning goals, and build confidence in their language speaking capabilities.
