  of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia\, an anniversary of
  deep cultural significance in a variety of Asian societies. In cultures th
 at traditionally used the sexagenary-cycle-based calendar\, the 60th year n
 ot only marks the end of a previous calendric cycle\, but more importantly 
 also welcomes the beginning of a new one.</p><p>To commemorate this signifi
 cant and pivotal 60th anniversary\, we cordially invite you to join us virt
 ually <strong>on Monday\, December 6 at 6:00pm (PST)</strong> to celebrate 
 our past sixty years of accomplishments and look forward with us to an even
  more splendid future together. During the virtual event\, we will review t
 he exciting developments and achievements of the Department and its languag
 e programs as well as its area studies programs and new initiatives. Come g
 ain a deeper understanding of the Department’s vision for the future. Lastl
 y\, the event will provide an opportunity for you to virtually gather with 
 friends old and new. You are warmly invited to join this celebratory event.
