Join the 11 students of ASIA 380: Modern Arabic Literature in Translation for an end-of-term creative showcase.
This term, students have been reading and discussing major modern Arabic literary texts while engaging with themes such as alienation, feminism, epistemic injustice, migration, exile, refugeehood, war, necropolitics, and more.
For their final project, students were asked to create a short film that interprets one of these themes. Their film is their argument: a creative, analytical response that reimagines literature through visual storytelling.
This project is in collaboration with local film maker and editor Leen Issa and is funded by The UBC Community Engaged Teaching Fellows program.
