The Sustainability Committee has been busy in the past few weeks. Our members attended the Workplace Sustainability Showcase to share our “Sustainability Everyday: Climate Awareness & Community Building” project and to exchange ideas with colleagues from across UBC. It was inspiring to learn about the wide (and cool!) range of innovative sustainability initiatives being implemented in different departments.

We also hosted a Natural Dye Handkerchief Workshop, where participants learned how to use plant-based dyes to create their own reusable handkerchiefs. As we crafted, the workshop opened meaningful conversations about the disconnection between everyday habits (e.g., recklessly overusing disposable tissues) or consumption, and the often-invisible environmental impacts embedded in our choices.
