Alex Chen Wang received his BA in Pacific and Asian Studies with a minor in Japanese Studies from the University of Victoria. Under the guidance of Dr. Sharalyn Orbaugh, he is now pursuing modern Japanese literature and contemporary Japanese Popular culture studies at UBC. With the benefit of several field research experiences in Japan, he has become aware of the significance of connecting the “past” and “present” to acquire a clearer cognizance of the bilateral relationship between China and Japan. Currently, Alex is working on his MA thesis on visual propaganda, its ideology, form and strategy in both China and Japan during the WW II period.
