Yinghua Tsai was born and raised in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Before joining the UBC Chinese Language Program, she most recently served as lead lecturer for the United States National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) in Taiwan at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages and as an instructor of Chinese language at Harvard University where she received the Harvard University Certificate of Distinction in Teaching and the Harvard Beijing Academy Teaching Excellence Award. She has experience teaching both heritage and non-heritage Chinese language learners of all levels and has taught Chinese to individuals in a variety of settings in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the United States.
