Krishna Kumar is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. His research project delves into the socio-economic interactions in early modern South Asia, particularly focusing on understanding caste and labor relations. He is also interested in studying the agency of subordinate subjects in navigating the economic and political formations, everyday resistance, and the livelihoods of dominated castes and labor groups. He works with Persian and vernacular archives.
Before joining UBC, Krishna completed his M.A. in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
