About

Before teaching non-heritage Chinese courses at UBC as a visiting lecturer in 2021, Shiang-Han Lin received a M.A. Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University. In 2016, she designed and taught Chinese courses at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany, and later became a Chinese teacher at Princeton in Beijing from 2018-2019 during the summers, while teaching Chinese at Shih-Chien University in Taiwan from 2018-2020. Soon after, she became an adjunct professor at CIEE 2020 Spring Semester and taught online courses at National Taiwan Normal University MTC.

Through focusing on student learning, Shiang-Han hopes to build a classroom that encourages students to grow and learn Chinese. Studying a new language can often be challenging, but Shiang-Han hopes that by utilizing her classroom as a place to come together and learn new ideas, she can help facilitate student collaboration, so the students can have engaging dialogues about learning Chinese within a supportive learning community.
