The Work Learn Program supports and subsidizes meaningful work experiences on campus that offer the opportunity for all current UBC students to develop your professional skills and learn in a work environment. From these experiences, you will gain  mentorship opportunities, an expanded network, ownership and responsibility of work, self-awareness and reflection, as well as a chance to apply your knowledge in practical settings, contribute to personal learning goals and the University in a different way.

Daily tasks include writing a biweekly departmental newsletter, posting to social media, and updating the departmental website. Other duties will include designing promotional materials, writing stories and creating other forms of multimedia content for publication through the Departments public communications. As necessary, Work Learn Students may be required to perform other duties which may include assisting with the logistics and running of Department events, general errands, filing, copying or other admin tasks.

 

Daily tasks include assisting with the promotion and logistics of Department events, the booking of rental spaces in the Asian Centre, and management of the HKSI website. The promotion and logistics of Department events includes activities like: designing physical posters and graphics for online promotion, running social media advertisements, sourcing venders for catering and equipment rentals, event set-up and clean up, managing and training event volunteers, taking photos and videos of events and other tasks associated with event preparation, organization and management.

 

Office Assistant (2 openings)
Daily tasks are answering phone, e-mail and in person enquiries (from students and Faculty), receiving and distributing mail, faxes and courier deliveries, maintaining bulletin boards, maintaining Inventory count and running errands as necessary. Other duties will include assisting with event set-up and clean up, assisting with event preparation and marketing. Special projects will include assisting with course scheduling and waitlist scheduling using various UBC software applications.
