In 2019, UBC issued a Climate Emergency Declaration and in 2021 produced the Climate Emergency Task Force (CETF) Report, the same year UBC’s Board of Governors approved the UBC Climate Action Plan 2030 (CAP 2030). These latest initiatives are calls for meaningful and prompt climate actions to be applied at both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Collective efforts across multiple departments, groups, and units, are essential to achieving UBC’s goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2030.

The Department of Asian Studies’ Sustainability Initiative Committee is pleased to present the following resources for department members to explore climate change, how it is impacting the UBC community and beyond, as well as a variety of UBC resources and opportunities for community members to get involved in climate action. The resources listed below are aimed at developing sustainable practices and becoming climate conscientious within Asian Studies, whether you are staff, faculty, or a student. If there are any other resources you’d like to share, please feel free to contact us at asia.eco@ubc.ca!
