Makiko Hamaguchi is a graduate student at the University of British Columbia. Makiko completed her BA in Visual Art (UBC), and she is currently pursuing her MA in Asian Studies under supervision of Professor Peter Nosco. Her research interests include early modern Japanese religions, and politics in the writings by female authors of the Tokugawa period (1600-1868), especially Ōgimachi Machiko (ca.1679-1724) and Tadano Makuzu (1763-1825).
