The Asian Studies Department at the University of British Columbia is honored to announce an upcoming commemorative event in honor of the esteemed Professor Wasef Bakhtari, a luminary in Persian poetry and thought. This solemn ceremony is organized in collaboration with the distinguished Bakhtari family, notably Ms. Manizheh Bakhtari, esteemed faculty members from Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia, and Farsi Dar BC Campaign.

This memorable occasion will feature a rich program designed to celebrate the profound legacy of Wasef Bakhtari. Attendees will be treated to:
- A keynote speech by Dr. Wali Parkhash Ahmadi
- A short theatrical performance of his works, interwoven with musical renditions, and poetic recitations
- A panel discussion about Persian language and cultures
- Brief tributes by notable scholars and cultural figures from around the world
Keynote Speaker
Wali (“Parkhash”) Ahmadi holds a B.A. in Political and Social Sciences from California State University, Hayward (now East Bay) and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UCLA. Since 2000 he has served as a professor of Persian literature and comparative cultural studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of Modern Persian Literature in Afghanistan: Anomalous Visions of History and Form and has edited Converging Zones: Persian Literary Tradition and the Writing of History. He has published widely (in English and Persian) on Persian/Dari literature, Afghanistan studies, and literary theory and criticism. He is the founding editor of Naqd wa Arman (Critique & Vision), an interdisciplinary journal of the humanities and social sciences (1995-2004). From his youth years in Kabul in the 1980’s to his current endeavors as an established academic in America, he had the unique distinction and honor of benefiting from the late Ustad Wasef Bakhtari’s guidance, scholarly advice, and mentorship.
Co-hosted by the Persian Language and Culture Program at UBC, Wasif Bakhtari Foundation, Farsi Dar BC Campaign, and Simon Fraser University.

اطلاعیه نشست بزرگداشت اندیشمند و شاعر بزرگ زبان فارسی واصف باختری
دپارتمان آسیاپژوهی دانشگاه بریتیش کلمبیا با افتخار اعلام می‌دارد که مراسم بزرگداشتی به مناسبت اولین سالگرد درگذشت استاد گرانقدر، واصف باختری، شاعر و اندیشه‌پرداز برجسته زبان فارسی برگزار خواهد شد. این مراسم باشکوه با همکاری خانواده محترم باختری، به ویژه سرکار خانم منیژه باختری، اعضای محترم هیئت علمی دانشگاه‌های سایمون فریزر و دانشگاه بریتیش کلمبیا، و کارزار فارسی در بی سی برگزار می‌گردد.
این رویداد به‌یادماندنی شامل برنامه‌ای متنوع و غنی خواهد بود که به پاسداشت میراث عمیق استاد واصف باختری اختصاص یافته است. برنامه‌ی جلسه به قرار زیر است:
