Join us for our last event! A screening of Vancouver-based artist Cindy Mochizuki’s 2024 documentary film, Between Pictures: The Lens of Tamio Wakayama, followed by a discussion with Cindy and local photographer Tadafumi Tamura, moderated by Dr. Tara Lee (UBC School of Journalism, Writing, & Media).
Synopsis: Through archival footage, interviews, animations, and Wakayama’s own unpublished memoir, follow the Japanese-Canadian photographer as he joins the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) during the American civil rights movement to his journey back home to Vancouver’s Paueru Gai/Powell Street neighborhoods.
