The Department of Asian Studies, University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus), invites applications for part-time sessional lecturers for the 2025 Winter Session to teach CDST 250 in term 1 and ASTU 201 & 202 in term 2.
- CDST 250 (Introduction to Canada) will have lectures on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm, and tutorial sections on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:30pm and 3:30-5:00pm, from September through December.
- ASTU 201 (Canada, Japan and the Pacific: Cultural Studies) will have lectures on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30pm, and tutorial sections on Thursdays from 1:00-6:00pm (consisting of a mixture of one hour and one and a half hour blocks), from January through April.
- ASTU 202 (Canada, Japan and the Pacific: Political, Economic and Geographical Perspectives) will have lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm, and tutorial sections on Mondays from 4:00-6:00pm and on Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30pm, from January through April.
In all cases, the instructor would be running the lectures, while Teaching Assistants handle the tutorials, with the hope that the instructor can visit and observe a handful of tutorial sessions to get a sense of their activities and student engagement. A minimum of an MA in a related field and teaching experience in a related field at a North American college/university level is required.
