Friday, March 14, Head of Dept. Prof. Ross King signed an Agreement on Academic Exchange with Prof. Imanishi Yuichiro, the Director-General of the National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL).
The Department’s involvement with NIJL started back in 2003 when Prof. Joshua Mostow served as the annual Visiting Professor at the Institute. He now serves on the board of the “Project to Build an International Collaborative Research Network on Pre-modern Japanese Texts,” initiated by NIJL and including representatives from 12 universities in Europe, Asia, and North America. The new institution-to-institution agreement will allow for greater cooperation; a joint research symposium, sponsored by NIJL, is planned for late September of this year.
