Student testimonials:

“CHIN 460 is an inspiring course. The instructor's presentation style is clear and easy to understand, and the course materials are engaging. The course emphasizes independent thinking and the integration of key knowledge points, and the course assignments emphasize individual application of knowledge. For example, the lesson plans and instructional videos sparked my thinking and enhanced my teaching practice. I also appreciate the balance the instructor strikes between guidance and freedom, allowing each student to grow at their own pace. Also, the course has an excellent atmosphere. Despite the online learning environment, everyone was enthusiastic about the course.”

“CHIN 460A is an engaging and hands-on course that has deepened my understanding of Chinese language, teaching, and culture. Studying pronunciation, tones, and lesson planning helped me see how language learning connects to effective teaching. Exploring sociolinguistic and intercultural issues made me reflect on how culture shapes communication and identity. Creating the teaching portfolio was especially rewarding, as it allowed me to apply theory in practice and see my progress. Overall, this course has not only strengthened my skills in teaching Chinese but also inspired me to approach language and culture with curiosity, creativity, and confidence.”
