JAPN students shine in the 33rd Annual Canadian National Japanese Language Speech Contest



The winners of the 34th BC Japanese Speech Contest—Karli Messer (JAPN 201), Ingrid Abigail Mas (JAPN 321), Michelle Anne Cheng (JAPN 323), and Tielia Young (JAPN 450), all from UBC—were invited to the 33rd Canadian National Japanese Language Speech Contest held on Saturday, March 26th. The winners of the seven regional contests gathered at the University of Alberta and presented their speeches.

This year, our UBC students performed exceptionally well and achieved commendable results. Michelle was awarded 3rd place in the open category and Ingrid received 1st place in the intermediate category. Tielia in the advanced category won the Grand Prize and received the Prince Takamado Japan-Canada Memorial Fund Scholarship to travel to Japan.
