Mr. Hazare is a renowned activist and leader in the movement to promote rural development, increase government transparency, and put an end to instances of official corruption. In 2011, Mr. Hazare was named by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the top 100 global thinkers. He is a finalist for the inaugural Allard Prize for International Integrity.
