Kabuki actor Gankyō Nakamura performed selections from the play Maiden at Dōjōji Temple (Musume Dōjōji) at the Frederic Wood Theatre on October 22. Gankyō is the only non-Japanese professionally trained kabuki actor. He guided the audience through two different stylistic approaches to this play and presented a spell-binding performance of its highlights.
