Zining Wang Student Alumni Interview with Mason Leung

Interested in what you can do with a degree in Asian Studies? For our new video series, our Asian Studies students interview alumni on their career path, how they became interested in Asian Studies and for any advice they would give to current students. In this episode, fourth year Student Mason Leung (BA’20) interviews alumnus Zining Wang (BA ’18).

Zining graduated in 2018 with a double major in Asian Studies and Economics and is currently the project coordinator of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Zining knows it can be hard to “see a clear path of how to translate academic passions into a clear objective”. Therefore she strongly advocates students to “be open to new experiences, get yourself out there and try different things” even if it may seem unfamiliar or daunting.

In this video, the interview covers the following questions:

  • How did you get interested in Asian Studies?
  • What experience was most beneficial to you as a student?
  • What advice would you give to students who have no idea what they want to do?
  • During your undergraduate what was your biggest obstacle in deciding your career path?
