Sonam Chusang is the lecturer in the Tibetan language at the University of British Columbia, and taught Intensive Tibetan language course with community engagement programs in the past 3 summers. In the summer of 2007, Sonam also taught Tibetan at the University of Virginia.

Sonam has been teaching the Tibetan language at various community level throughout North America to the heritage and non-heritage students alike for the past fifteen years. Sonam is from Amdo and educated exile Tibetan community in India. Thus he is proficient in both Amdo and Central Tibetan dialects.
