About
Hiromi Aoki (青木裕美) is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. She specializes in Japanese language pedagogy and is currently interested in how AI can help with language learning.
Professor Aoki has taught Japanese at several universities, including the University of Alberta, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Arizona, and Dartmouth University’s study abroad program. Her commitment to excellence in education has been recognized with the Faculty of Arts Teaching Unit Award and the Students’ Union Award for Leadership in Undergraduate Teaching from the University of Alberta.
At UBC, Professor Aoki continues to explore new ways of teaching Japanese, aiming to make language learning engaging and effective for her students.
