Ruoyi (Roy) Yan (they/them) is pursuing a Master’s degree in Asian Studies under the supervision of Dr. Sharalyn Orbaugh and Dr. Colleen Laird. They received their B.A. in East Asian Languages and Cultures (Japanese) and in Psychology from Smith College. Their research focuses on LGBTQ+ representation in modern Japanese popular media, especially yuri (Girls’ Love) culture.
