About

Shubham Arora is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. Shubham has obtained his Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies, Philosophy, and Comparative Religions from Nālandā University. He is currently engaged in his Doctor of Philosophy studies at the University of British Columbia with a research focus on the intellectual history of Kāma (or pleasure) in Sanskrit literature between 300 and 1300 CE. His research interests include pre-modern Sanskrit literature, South Asian erotics, courtesan culture, gender and sexuality studies. Additionally, Shubham continues to cultivate his passion for Kathak, one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance.
