The 16th Annual Toronto Korean Speech Contest, which was co-hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto and the Centre for the Study of Korea at University of Toronto, was held virtually on March 19, 2022.
47 applicants across Canada applied and 37 applicants passed the preliminary round. Five UBC students, Ethan Maja, Tracy Chen (KORN 102), Violet Smith (KORN 102), Tricia Lim (KORN 302), and Eric Venis (KORN 351) competed in the final round.
Ethan Maja won the KTO (Korea Tourism Organization) Special Prize, and Eric Venis, the Grand Prize winner of the previous year, won 1st place in the advanced category! Congratulations!
