Siyun Pan researches popular culture, fandom, and media in contemporary China, with a focus on fan productions and the urban mediascape. Her work examines both the digital labor of celebrity fandom across platforms and their material creations in urban space. Centering on the city of Chongqing and the fandom of Times Fengjun (时代峰峻), she explores how diverse fan productions, from fanfiction, art, and video to big-screen advertisements, graffiti, and installation art, collectively and affectively reshape the urban landscape. She holds an MA in East Asian Studies from the University of Toronto and a BA from McGill University.
