About
I am an MA student in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. Prior to studying in Canada, I have experience working in Historical GIS.
I am interested in the urban history of modern China and other colonial settings. My current research deals with the transformation of martial arts practitioners in Hong Kong in the early twentieth century. It is intriguing to study how their self-perception was shaped by their interactions with different social sectors and along the transformation of martial arts.
My broader interest touches on their spatial understanding and its reflection in shaping the urban setting, which helps to understand the group in a different dimension.
