We’ve asked some of our Asian Studies faculty, staff and students to share their experiences on working from home. Project Assistant and student Mason Leung has used the opportunity to learn new skills (and embrace video game skills too):
What are some problems you may have encountered during the transition to remote working?
- Not having instant access to your supervisor can make work a bit slow when you need to ask for new tasks or questions.
How did you cope with the problems to ease the transition?
- By asking for larger projects and adopting a routine, it became easier to work independently.
Describe one new thing (skill, interest, pastime, etc) you may have learned during the quarantine time?
- I began learning new tools such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro to make some fun content while learning how to use it at the same time!
Any medium (music, books, cooking recipe, etc.) you could recommend that you’ve found relaxing/entertaining recently?
- Although it sounds ironic, video games have been serving as a huge entertainment source and can help you keep connected with your friends in a fun way.
As a thank you for your time in answering these questions, is there anything personally you’d like to promote or let everyone know about right now?
- Try to learn a new skill and make use of this time!
