About
Dalia is a graduate student in the Master’s program of the Department of Asian Studies. Her current research is focused on premodern Chinese material culture and local history, namely the culture of Lingbi scholars’ rocks and its relationship to the development of the local identity of Lingbi County in Anhui, China. She is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Rusk and Dr. Alison Bailey.
She received her undergraduate degree in 2022 from the Department of Asian Studies of UBC. Her honours thesis was developed under the supervision of Dr. Sharalyn Orbaugh who does a close reading on the feminizing portrayal of male Chinese characters in Japanese anime in a post-colonialist and post-imperialist context.
Outside of her academics, Dalia is also a fiction writer and writes in Simplified Chinese. Her creative works include sci-fi, historical fantasy, and occasional prose poems.
