Jiahe is an MA student in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on premodern Chinese literature and culture, specifically concerning how individuality interacts with the construction and negotiation of collective identities in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) fictions.

Jiahe received her BA in Asian Studies (Hons) from UBC. She completed her honours thesis in 2024 under the supervision of Dr. Alison Bailey, during which Jiahe explored the representation of disillusionment and female individuality in the Chinese Chuanqi play Fanhua Meng (1778).
