About

Junshen Wu is a MA student working with Dr. Renren Yang. His primary interests lie in infrastructure and urban space in modern and contemporary China, with a focus on how multimedia narratives can provide alternatives to reconstruct people’s self-perception, worldview, and historical understanding in the context of modernization. His current research explores the road in post-2008 Chinese literature which serves as a narrative device mediating the interaction between individual growth and national development.

He is also deeply interested in the intellectual history of modern and contemporary China, particularly the evolving self-perceptions of intellectuals and their relationship with ordinary people. He aims to bridge intellectual, cultural, and social history to examine the nuanced transformations of people’s lifeworlds and mental conditions.

Before joining this MA program, Junshen received his B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature at Beijing Normal University.
