About
Leona is a MA student of Chinese literature working with Dr. Alison Bailey. She is interested in modern adaptations and perceptions of premodern classics, and how they tie into themes of nostalgia, nationalism, and identity-building. With a BA in Political Science from UBC, she brings an interdisciplinary lens to her research and hopes to contribute to the understanding of the role of literature and fiction in the creation of national identity and public spheres. In her spare time, you can find her playing with her dog and two cats.
