UBC ASIA Presents: Japanese Folk Dance Workshop with Jean Maeda

Are you interested in Japanese Festivals? Going to Japan in the summer? How about learning some Japanese folkjapanese folk dance dance and actually participating in a festival?

UBC ASIA is honoured to invite Folk Dance Instructor Jean Maeda to teach us Japanese folk dance!

Japanese folk dancing, which has been called “line dancing done in a circle,” is fun and easy to learn. Come learn some basic steps and a few easy dances and shine at the next summer festival or bon odori. No previous dance experience necessary. Male participants are most welcome.

Though this event is held during the 1st week of exams, please don’t miss this rare chance to learn this traditional art!

This workshop, usually offered at $10/session at Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby, is free for the night!

All you need to do is wear comfortable clothing and bring a tenugui (cotton towel) if you have one.
