Our logo was designed by MA Asian Studies Alumni and graphic design extraordinaire Julien Butterlin. The flower depicted is the Camellia sinensis, the tea plant whence all true teas are derived, harvesting white, green, oolong, pu-erh and black tea. Inspired by the role tea plays in Asian cultures as well as the symbolism of purity, non-attachment and enlightenment of the lotus flower, the Camellia sinensis was a natural choice that best represents the Department of Asian Studies.
