Asian Studies Ph.D. student Minoru Takano Accepted by the 2021 China Studies Program Online Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship



Congratulations to Asian Studies doctoral student, Minoru Takano who was recently accepted by the 2021 China Studies Program (CSP) Online Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship! With this opportunity, Takano will be able to conduct online joint research together with Dr. Liao Kebin of Peking University for the years of 2021-2022. Dr. Liao specializes in Ming dynasty literature.

Minoru Takano

Minoru Takano’s research area is on the cultural history of late imperial China (1368-1911), focusing on topics such as migration, place identity, and commemoration. His dissertation deals with the case of Li Dongyang (1447-1516) during the mid-Ming Dynasty to explore how he perceived his place identity and also how the later people thought of him as a person of where.

About the China Studies Program (CSP) Online Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship

The Online Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship of China Studies Program (CSP) aims to fund non-Chinese doctoral students who are officially registered in non-Chinese universities and academic institutions. The student should demonstrate strong academic performance with research projects that have potential academic impact. The duration of the fellowship is one year. The fellowship stipends will be 20,000 RMB for the doctoral student, and 10,000 RMB for the Chinese cooperating advisor.
